Employee Agreement Details
Contracts can be in Arabic, French or both languages including an English translation. The agreement should include relevant information such as personal information of the employee, information about the employer, working days and hours, holiday leave, among others.
The probation period in Morocco is not mandatory and it is determined according to the employee's category. Forthe minimum is 3 months and the maximum is 6 months, for Employees the minimum is 45 days and the maximum 3 months.
Minimum Wage Requirements
Minimum wage will vary according to the industry. Minimum wage for farming activities is MAD 1,994 and for other sectors MAD 2,828.
Maximum working hours and overtime
Standard working hours are 8.8 or 9 hours per day, 44 in total, on a 5 day working week from Monday to Friday.
- Maternity leave: employees are entitled to 14 weeks of maternity leave. They need to inform the employer as well as the Social Security authority (CNSS) and present a medical certificate. During this period the salary is paid by the CNSS and it's capped to their threshold.
- Paternity leave: Employees are entitled to 3 days of paternity leave in Morocco. There is no additional requirement or condition to apply, the employee needs to provide the employer the birth certificate. The leave is covered by the employer but it can be recovered from Social Security (CNSS) up to the cap.
Employees are entitled up to 180 days of leave per year. Employees need to provide a medical certificate from their doctor to the employer. During that period the leave is covered by the Social Security (CNSS) up to the cap.
