Employment Contract Details
Employment contracts must be in writing.
The typical probation period is 3 months, only in case the person does not have an active pension fund it can reach 6 months. Probationary periods are permitted by Israeli law, but during such a period, an employee would still be considered a regular employee for all intents and purposes.
Minimum Wage Requirements
The Minimum Wage is 5,300 ILS per month.
Maximum working hours and overtime
Standard working hours per day are 8.40 and 42 hours per week from Sunday to Thursday. The maximum working hours per month are 182 hours.
- Maternity leave: employees are entitled to 3 months of paid leave and optional 9 extra months of unpaid leave. The leave can be taken a month before the expected birth date. To be eligible, the employee needs to work at least 12 months for the same company. The payment is done by Social Security.
- Paternity Leave: employees are entitled to 10 days as best practice of paid time off. As it can be shared with the mother, if the partner returns to work, leave can be extended to 1 month. Standard leave of a month, is paid by Social Security. If the employer decides to grant 10 paid days as best practice the cost will be covered by the employer.
The first sick day is not required to be paid, the second and third are paid in half and as of the fourth sick day they are paid in full. the maximum amount of paid sick days per year is 18. If the employees require additional days, will have to be deducted from their wages.
