Employee Agreement Details
Contracts can be in English, Greek or both languages. The agreement should include relevant information such as personal information of the employee, information about the employer, working days and hours, holiday leave, termination conditions and work position among others.
The maximum probation period is 6 months and after its completion it can be extended for 6 more months if both parties agree.
Minimum Wage Requirements
Minimum wage will vary according to the length of the employment. Minimum wage for the first 6 months of employment will be EUR 870, and will raise to EUR 924 on the seventh month of employment.
Maximum working hours and overtime
Standard working hours are 7.6 or 8 hours per day on a 5 day working week from Monday to Friday. According to the type of employment, employees can work on a 6 day working week.
- Maternity leave: employees are entitled to 18 weeks of paid maternity leave. It should start at least 2 weeks before the birth due date. During this period, salary will be paid by Social Insurance and the employee will receive 72% of the monthly salary.
- Paternity leave: employees are entitled to 2 paid weeks of paternity leave. It must be taken within the first 16 weeks after the birth of the child. During this period, salary will be paid by Social Insurance and the employee will receive 72% of the weekly salary.
Employees are entitled up to 156 days of leave per year. The first 3 days will be fully paid by the employer and starting from the 4th day, the Social Insurance will be responsible for the payment and the person will be entitled to receive 60% of the salary.
