In Vietnam, employees are entitled to a minimum of 12 paid holidays a year. For every 5 years’ working for an employer, the annual leave increases by 1 day.

Employment Contract Details
Contracts must be in written and made in two copies, of which the employee keeps one copy, and the employer keeps the other copy. For foreign employees, employment contracts shall be written in both Vietnamese and - usually - English provided the employer and employee both agree with.
The maximum probation period is 2 months.
Minimum Wage Requirements
The minimum wage in Vietnam highly varies depending on the region and the employees' skillset. It ranges from VND 3,000,000 up to VND 4,420,000 per month.
Maximum working hours and overtime
The maximum working time is 48 hours per week. The employee’s overtime hours cannot exceed 50% of regular working hours per day.
Bonus and expense payments
There are no statutory requirements. However, It is common practice to grant a 13th salary bonus.
- Maternity Leave: employees are entitled to 6 months of maternity leave; they can take up to 2 months prior to childbirth. For Vietnamese nationals, maternity leave is borne by the Social Insurance Fund.
- Paternity Leave: employees are entitled from 5 to 14 days' leave, depending on the specific case.
Vietnamese Nationals are entitled to sick leave according to the number of years they contributed to the Social Insurance Fund, who is responsible for covering the employee's sick leave. It ranges from 1 to 2 months' leave.
Termination requirements for employees in
Strictly regulated by the Labor Code, both the employee and the employer can unilaterally terminate the agreement, provided they comply with the required notice period. However, it is highly recommended to reach a mutual agreement.
In Vietnam, the minimum required notice period is 1 months' notice.
