Paid Time Off
In Turkey, generally employees are entitled to 14 days of paid time off per year, after working over a year.
If the employee works for more than 5 years for the same employer, he will receive 20 days. For those working more than 15 years for the same employer, they will receive 26 days.
For employees with age less than 18 or more than 50, vacation days may not be less than 20 days.
For part-time employees, the paid time off will vary according to the amount of hours worked.

Individual Income Tax Rates
The employee Income Tax range is between 15% and 40%. And will depend on the salary of the employee.
The employer cost range is 17%.
In Turkey, the probation period will depend on the length of the contract:
- 0 to 6 days - 14 days of probation period
- 6 to 18 months - 28 days of probation period
- 18 to 36 months - 42 days of probation period
- Over 36 months - 56 days of probation period
Minimum Wage Requirements
The gross monthly minimum wage is 3,577.50 TL.
Maximum working hours and overtime
The standard working hours for a 6 day working week, are 45 hours. With overtime, the employee cannot exceed 11 hours per day.
The maximum overtime working hours per year are 270 hours.
Extension of parental leave is not possible.
- Maternity Leave: employees are entitled to 16 weeks of maternity leave that will be granted: 8 weeks before the birth of child and 8 weeks after.
- Paternity leave: private sector employees are entitled to 5 days of leave.
For the first 2 days of sick leave, there is not payment. From the third day, the employee needs to provide a medical certificate to the Turkish Social Security Administration, and will receive a payment determined on the basis of average salary of the last year.
Termination requirements for employees in
Contracts can be terminated by mutual agreement or unilaterally. If the employers terminate the contrate with rightful cause, is not required to pay severance or notice pay. In case of the employer’s termination without a rightful cause the employer is required to pay severance and notice pay.
The employer must also pay the employees earned other receivables in any case, for example accumulated leaves and overtime etc.
The notice periods vary according to seniority/length of the employment of the employee.
If the employment is:
- Less than 6 months: 2 weeks period
- 6 months to 1.5 years: 4 weeks period
- 1.5 years to 3 years: 6 weeks period
- 3 years (including) and more: 8 weeks period
