Employment contract details
Contracts should be written in Arabic or French. The agreement must state salary, notice period, working hours, bonuses if applicable, holiday leave and sick leave among others.
The minimum probation period is 1 month, and the maximum probation period is 6 months.

Minimum Wage Requirements

Maximum working hours and overtime
Standard working hours are 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. The amount of working hours will depend on the company, and it can raise up to 48 hours per week.
Overtime is paid as 150% up to 200% of the daily salary and not per hour.
- Maternity leave: employees are entitled to 2 calendar months of paid leave. The payment will be done by the Social Security authorities.
- Paternity leave: by law, employees are not entitled to paternal leave. However is best practice to grant at least 2 days of paid leave after the birth of the child. The cost will be paid by the employer.
Employees are entitled to take leave if sick and the amount will depend on what agreed on the employee agreement. Best practice is to grant 5 days paid by the employer. Since the 6th day, sick leave will be paid by Social Security (CNSS) as 60% of the employee's salary.
Termination requirements for employees in
Both parties can terminate an employment contract by providing notice. Compensation in the amount of the notice period must be paid where notice is not properly given.
Employers and employees can terminate an employment contract at any time during the probation period without providing a reason or notice. However, special rules apply for redundancy dismissal.
Notice period is mandatory, and the minimum notice is 1 month.
