    In South Korea, employees are entitled to paid holidays based on the length of the labor relationship:

    Probation Period

    Not mandatory. However, common practice is 3 months.

    Minimum Wage Requirements

    The minimum wage is KRW 8,590 per hour.

    Maximum working hours and overtime

    A workweek is generally up to 40 hours per week and 8 hours a day. The maximum weekly working hours are 52.

    Parental Leave

    • Maternity Leave: Employees are entitled to 3 months of maternity leave (or 4 months in the case of twins). At least 2 months (or 75 days in the case of twins) of the leave must be paid. The government pays for the remaining month (or 1.5 month in the case of twins). At least 1.5 months of leave (or 2 months in the case of twins) must be taken after the birth.
    • Paternity Leave: Employees are entitled to 10 days of paid paternity leave. The requests must be made within 3 months of childbirth.

    Sick Leave

    Employees are not entitled to sick leave associated to non-work related illnesses or injuries. However, some companies grant sick leave to their employees as a special benefit generally up to several months of unpaid leave and/or up to several weeks of paid leave if illness or injury requires it.

    Termination requirements for employees in

    Employees may only be dismissed for attributable cause to the employee, such as misconduct. Employer should give the worker a written notice of dismissal.

    Severance Pay is mandatory for employees who have worked for 1 year or more regardless of the reason for termination. Amount must be equivalent to at least 1 month's average wages for each year of continuous employment.

    Notice Period

    In South Korea, the minimum required notice period is 1 month's written notice or provide payment in lieu. Does not apply to employees that are serving a probationary period of 3months or less.
