    The maximum probation period is 3 months for operational roles and 6 months for management roles.

    Minimum Wage Requirements

    The Minimum Wage is EUR 580 per month.

    Maximum working hours and overtime

    Normal working hours over a five-day period must not exceed 40 hours, 8 hours per day.

    Parental Leave

    Parental leave can taken by either parent until the child turns 3 years old. The allowance is paid by the Central Office of Labour Social Affairs and family.

    • Maternity Leave: employees are entitled to a minimum of 34 weeks of maternity leave, and can reach 43 weeks, according to the health of the child and if the employee is a single parent.
    • Paternity Leave: employees are entitled to a minimum of 28 weeks of paternity leave, and can reach 31 weeks if the employee is a single parent. The leave can start as soon as 6 weeks prior to childbirth in case the partner is not being granted any benefit.

    Sick Leave

    During the first 10 days sick leave is paid by the employer at a rate of 25% for days 1 - 3 and 55% from days 4 - 10 based on the daily salary.

    Termination requirements for employees in

    Contracts can be terminated by any party with or without cause providing written notice.Severance pay depends on the length of employment and type of termination. When employment is terminated with notice, the minimum amount of severance pay is 1 to 4 times the employee’s average monthly wages, depending on the years of service (2 to 20 years).

    Notice Period

    In Slovakia, the notice period is based on the length of the labor relationship:

    • Up to 1 year of employment - 1 month’s notice
    • 1 - 5 years of employment - 2 months’ notice
    • 5+ years of employment - 3 months’ notice

    When employees resign:

    • Up to 1 year of employment - 1 month’s notice
    • 2+ years of employment - 2 months’ notice
