In Egypt, employees are generally entitled to 21 days of annual paid leave, once they have worked for 6 months. Employees who are over the age of 50, or have been employed for over 10 years are entitled to 30 days of leave.

The individual income tax is based on progressive tax brackets that start from 10% up to 25%.

Employment contract details
Contracts must be in writing in Modern Standard Arabic. Also, should include an offer letter.
Fixed-term contracts are allowed for up to 5 years.
Maximum working hours and overtime
The maximum working hours are 8 hours per day, and 48 hours a week. The standard working hours is 44 a week.
Minimum Wage Requirements
The minimum wage is variable per degree, mostly around 2,400 EGP per month.
Probation Period
Three months is the maximum and it's non renewable.
Parental Leave
- Maternity Leave: employees are granted with 90 days of paid maternity leave. Under most contracts, paid maternity leave is eligible twice within 5 years.
- Paternity Leave: in Egypt, is not a mandatory leave. However, is best practice to grant some time paid by the employer.
Certificate of Military Duty
Male employees must have a certificate of Military Duty or a certificate of exemption. Egypt will not allow employment if a person has not completed or been exempted from military duty, nor while he is serving.

Notice Period
The standard notice period is 2 months if the employee has been working for less than 10 years, and 3 months if the employee has been working for more than 10 years.
It's customary to sometimes grant the employee the notice as severance.
