    Employment Contract Details

    Employment contracts must be in writing. The agreement can be bilingual, but one of the parties must be in the official language of the country - Russian or Belarusian.

    Probation Period

    Maximum probation period is 3 months and is not mandatory. During the probation period, there is no notice period.

    Minimum Wage Requirements

    The minimum monthly wage is BYN 400,00.

    Maximum working hours and overtime

    The standard workweek in Belarus is 40 hours per week, and 8 hours per day.

    Parental Leave

    Parental leave can be granted after maternity leave for the period of time until the child is 3 years old. For that period the employee receives the parental leave allowance paid by the state. For the period of parental leave, an employee on such leave is assigned and paid a monthly state allowance.

    • Maternity Leave: the employee is eligible for maternity leave after working 6 months for the company. The duration of the maternity leave is 126 days after childbirth. For this period employee is being paid 100% of their salary. For the period before childbirth, the employee can be granted sick leave. If the company has more than 15 employees, then the employer pays the allowance, compensated by the State Social Welfare Fund. If the company employs less than 15 people, then the allowance is paid by the State Social Welfare Fund.
    • Paternity Leave: is a not leave that the employee will receive separately. The employee is eligible to take parental leave or in case he is solely responsible for the baby, he may take the benefits of maternity leave.

    Sick Leave

    An employee can take up to 120 calendar days of sick leave per year. It is paid first 80% and then (after 12 days) 100% of the employee's average salary, counted on the basis of 6 months. Sick leave is paid by the employer and it is compensated by the State Social Welfare Fund.

    Termination requirements for employees in

    Contracts can be terminated by any party and only be carried out under certain circumstances.

    Severance is not mandatory for all cases. It will depend on the reason for which the contract is terminated. In case of dismissal, the employer must pay 3 months of salary.

    Notice Period

    In Belarus, the minimum required notice period is 1 month's written notice.
